ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for undertaking pre and post contract quantity surveying services and assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of building construction framework agreements.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
- Manage main contract documents, including eg agreeing bond wording, contract signing, etc.
- Prepare payment schedules detailing main contract valuations and payment dates.
- Determine the extent and value of building work completed for interim payments to contractors as per contract.
- Pre-qualify sub-contractors to comply with Company procedure.
- Agree and issue sub-contractor packages.
- Assess and settle contractor’s claims throughout the contract.
- Provide professional advice on contractual matters.
- Monitor expenditure and provide monthly financial information, together with forecasts re costs.
- Project budget preparation to include confirmation of anticipated overhead contribution.
- Agree final accounts.
- Ensure variations are agreed with client in writing before work commences.
- Manage claims: e.g. extension of time, delays, disruption, out of sequence working.
- Prepare cost v value reconciliation document monthly.
- Work with the wider McAvoy Team to effectively represent and grow the business and contribute to the culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Carry out other duties that are consistent with the job holder’s knowledge and skills and are necessary for the satisfactory completion of contracts and to assist the company in achieving its goals and objectives.This role description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Quantity Surveyor. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.
