The continued impact of the Covid pandemic and soaring food & fuel prices is creating huge financial burden on many people within our communities. Christmas can be a particularly stressful and expensive time of year, so for The McAvoy Group’s 2021 Christmas appeal, we arranged a collection for the Lisburn Foodbank.
Our staff collected an impressive 259kg of food and essential items which we hope made a difference to many families at Christmas. Lisburn Foodbank helped over 2,000 families in 2021, compared to 800 families in 2020, proving that donations are more important than ever.
We are committed to making a difference in the communities we work in all year round, not just at Christmas, which the ongoing collections at many of our sites proves. Our site team at Merstham Park School, Redhill, recently collected and donated much needed food items to St Matthews Church in Redhill, who aim to provide local families and individuals with essential food supplies to keep them going until a longer-term solution is found.
Further to this, our site team at Laureate Academy, Hemel Hempstead, also donated to DENS in Dacorum which aims to help individuals and families facing homelessness, poverty, and social exclusion, take the next positive step in their lives.
With 1 in 5 people in the UK now living below the poverty line our hope is that these donations went some way to helping those in need.
