Lord Nash, Parliamentary Under Secretary for Schools and Matthew Hancock, Minister for Skills officially declared the school open. After a tour of the school and meeting with Governors, staff, parents and students Lord Nash unveiled a plaque and gave a speech. Matthew Hancock also said a few words thanking Howard, the staff and all the people involved in working together to make the school a reality. Howard Lay said “It was fantastic to have Lord Nash here. It is a very innovative and imaginative vision at the heart of this school. It is for pupils with speech, language and communication problems. It’s innovative in that way, but it’s also innovative in that it is on the mainstream school site and therefore there are also opportunities for integration.
