McAvoy Health and Safety Manager David Farrell has been awarded PSCS (Project Supervisor for the Construction Stage) accreditation to ensure the company is compliant with the needs and requirements under the latest construction regulations in the Republic of Ireland.
The new accreditation will bring McAvoy into line with recent legislation in Ireland.
The Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 came into force in Ireland last year. The move placed a duty on all clients to employ the Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and a Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS).
The PSCS can be a corporate body or an individual to carry out their responsibilities under Regulations 6(1) and is usually the main contractor. This role is carried out by a CDMc in Great Britain, but has been split into two separate roles in the Republic, therefore, the PSDP will deal with design issues, while PCSC must oversee health and safety issues.
