The McAvoy Group was awarded a prestigious contract to design, build and install a 48-bed ward at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. The project was commissioned by Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust following McAvoy involvement in other health care projects with the Trust’s professional team.
Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital had an urgent requirement for additional beds to accommodate the increasing demand for the provision of healthcare at the hospital.
Excellent healthcare facilities
McAvoy used its vast experience in delivering buildings within the health sector to complete this project within the 25 week timeframe. A modern building was designed by McAvoy which complements its adjacent buildings. The aesthetically pleasing hospital extension provides a pleasant environment for both patients and staff. Equipped with the latest state-of –the-art equipment the new building provides the much needed space within the hospital.
The Offsite Solution
Despite working in a very tightly confined space adjacent to busy areas of the hospital, McAvoy installed the new 48 bed ward with all the ancillary accommodation, causing minimum disruption to day-to-day running of the hospital. The safety of patient and staff was at the forefront of all on-site construction.
McAvoy constructed the 48 bed ward utilising a composite façade system which has been designed to allow for further extension should it be required at a later date.
